I need to get graded two more assignments which are “Euthanasia” and “How To Weigh An Elephant.”

School Vacations

I think that several short vacations throughout the year is better than one long summer vacation each year.

One long summer vacation would cause a decline in the scholastic ability of students. School children today do not have enough time to study nowadays because of a five-day week, and their scholastic ability is certainly declining. It has become a serious problem in Japan. One long vacation would worsen such a problem, as students would not remember, after one long vacation, what they have learned.

Moreover, studying in a long term is too stressful to children. If they have several short vacations, however, it will be easier for them to continue studying between the vacations because they still remember some of what they studied in the last semester and they will even have enough time to refresh.

Therefore, I agree to the idea that students should have several short vacations in the year, rather than having one long summer vacation.

      I definitely agree with euthanasia because it is one way to save some people who suffer from an incurable disease and severe pains.      Some countries like America or the
Netherlands have made a law that allows euthanasia. Meanwhile, in
Japan, if doctors ‘kill’ those people who suffer without some necessary conditions, even though it is for saving them, such doctors are to be punished for murder.      I wonder if it is necessary to keep the law so strict in
Japan. If I were suffering an incurable disease, I would rather die. I have not experienced severe pains, which make me think so, but it is cruel to make people who give up their lives live forcibly. Also, what is important for human beings is not “how long we can live” but “how happy we can live.”      For these reasons, I assert that euthanasia should not be prohibited in
Japan any more if a person who is suffering hopes so.

At first, float a boat on the lake and put an elephant on it. The boat sinks a little, then mark the top of the waterline on the boat. Remove the elephant from the boat and put some rocks instead. Each of the rocks must be lighter than 100 kg. Continue to put rocks on the boat until the boat sinks to the waterline marked earlier. Lastly, weigh on the scale all of the rocks on the boat and sum up all the weight. The total weight of rocks is the weight of the elephant.
